DIGITAL DECAY
Interactive Installation
DIGITAL DECAY
Digital Decay is an interactive media installation that explores the parallels between the natural world and the digital realm. It delves into the essential processes of decomposition and decay, showcasing how both organic matter and digital data experience a cyclical journey of breakdown and renewal.
While organic matter undergoes a natural process of transformation, decomposing into elements that nourish new life, digital data can also deteriorate over time, especially when influenced by human intervention. This installation goes beyond simply highlighting the vulnerability of digital data; it uses imagery and symbolism to draw compelling connections between the natural and digital realms.
By inviting viewers to interact with the installation and contemplate the fleeting nature of existence and the inevitability of change, Digital Decay encourages a deeper understanding of the interconnectedness of our world, both physical and digital.
The installation features real-time visuals of natural elements like plants and flowers. By using creative coding techniques, these visuals transform into particles connected to motion sensors. As spectators move and interact with the sensors, their movements transform and decompose the visuals. This dynamic process is accompanied by sound design that sonically represents the concepts of decay and decomposition.
